Why a Mom’s Mental Health Drives Family Success & Social-Emotional Learning

In our work to prevent mental health struggles before they take root, I keep thinking about how vital a peaceful, loving family is to a person’s ability to live well, love well, and work well. And so often, at the heart of that family foundation is a mom’s mental health.

As moms, we often carry the emotional tone of the household, and that’s no small feat!  Just think of a Mom like the home’s thermostat.

Research backs this up. Maternal mental health has a ripple effect with people they interact with. Studies show that when moms face mental health challenges, it can impact children’s emotional well-being, behavior, and even cognitive development. High parental stress shifts family dynamics. On the flip side, here’s some good news, too. Small, intentional habits and practices like organization, self-care, and daily clarity restores a sense of balance.

A mom who is organized and is a ‘Mom boss’ is the pivotal point of a family’s success. There are no perfect moms or families. There are women who are being perfected by their experiences and are building loving family foundations. We know love and peace helps your family thrive for generations to come.

Let’s keep prioritizing mom’s well-being because it’s also family well-being. Women and men bring their whole selves to work and our mental health is vital to everyone’s success.

As families go, so goes society.
